Another Bonus Block today, this time from Michelle White at Moda Fabrics.
This one is titled Mix and Match and it was pretty quick to cut and sew up.
As you can see, in the photo, I used toweling in the A squares and just alternated the direction of the stripe. When you lay out the block, prior to sewing, you can play with the stripe directions of the squares by turning them different ways, to see what you prefer.
For the 4 ½" block I placed the toweling in the B rectangles and cut it so the stripes ran parallel to the short sides.
Of course any ideas for stripes can be used with any directional print fabric. Utilising the direction of the print can create different patterns and effects, so it is always worth thinking about it prior to cutting out.
For the block I followed the exact same cutting, piecing and pressing instructions as the pattern.
Happy sewing
Jenelle
