Well, Crystal Manning always makes beautiful things and designs gorgeous fabric; this block is no exception. Highland Plaid is fun to make and would look great as a repeated block in a quilt.

I have followed all the cutting and assembly instructions for this block because the toweling stripes were just ideal for the D section of both blocks. No alterations were required.
The stripes add an extra zing and I think they look really effective.
I also took the opportunity to fussy cut the E square. You can see a bee in the centre of the 9" block and a tiny pink dot on the 4 ½" square. I also fussy cut the bees in the B squares of the smaller block, why not! With motifs like these, on this sweet fabric, I could not resist. The print fabric is Midnight in the Garden by Sweetfire Road. It is in stores now.
I hope you have lots of fun with this one, I can't wait so see what you all come up with.
Happy Sewing
Jenelle
