Free Pillow Pattern - Blockheads 4

Updated: Jul 31, 2022

Do you love a comfy pillow? I do, and these pillows fit the bill perfectly.

I have specially designed these pillows to use with blocks from Moda Blockheads 4 and Moda Toweling (of course).

Scroll down to read some hints and tips and download the free pattern.

I have used a 9" finished 'Cooee' block from Blockheads 4, for the square pillow and four 4 ½" 'Cooee' blocks for the lumbar pillow.

You can, of course, use any of the Blockheads blocks you like. I just thought it might be lovely to have a couple of pillows to match your Blockheads Quilt.

Moda Toweling from my Lakeside range has been used to complete these pillows. The print fabric is from Midnight in the Garden by Sweetfire Road. Both these ranges are available in stores now.

The square pillow measures 17" x 17" finished and the Lumbar is 18" x 36".

Here is the Lakeside Towelings used for the body of the Lumbar Pillow. The code is 992-265.

The toweling for the long side block borders, on the lumbar pillow is 992-265, shown to the right.

A section is cut from the stripe to create the trim along the sides of the 4 pieced squares. Choose the section of stripe you desire and place your ruler along the edge of the stripe.

Click below to download the free pattern for both pillows.

The towelings for the square pillow borders is 992-280.

To cut the towelings for the border of the square pillow place the ruler ¼" past the edge of the woven stripe. Repeat for the other side of the stripe.

The stripe is cut out with ¼" allowance on each side. You will need 2 - 20" lengths of towelings to cut four borders.

Repeat for both stripes, on each piece, until you have 4 lengths of 20".

To assist you with the mitred corners on the square pillow, here is a video for you to watch.

Please send me your photos of your finished pillows, I would love to see them.

Happy sewing,

Jenelle
