Welcome to Block 4 - Super Scrappy Star by Corey Yoder. I love the scrappy border on this one.
My stripes and checks are a much smaller scale than the toweling stripes I used in the last Blockheads. If they were really bold I would be very fussy about the direction and I would ensure everything would match exactly.
However, these blocks are quilt small and when you look at all the blocks put together, I don't think the mismatched stripes will be an issue.
I have still tried to cut so the stripes are straight to a cutting line. The checks are not as cooperative, but that is the nature of the beast.
I used Best Press again for my spray starch. Definitely worth it for these small pieces.
The checks are not uni-directional, like a stripe, so the chances of matching them up is very small. So I threw caution to the wind and decided to focus on colour. I have placed the dark reds diagonally opposite one another and the light reds diagonally opposite one another.
I saved the greens for the scrappy border. I have 4 greens to play with, so I numbered them 1,2,3,4 and just kept repeating the pattern. Lucky for me the number of squares required was divisible by 4 so the pattern worked out!
The photo shows more Christmas decorations from 'Christmas with Panache' that will be released soon.
Happy Sewing
